Hello, I’m Kai, also known as Palmbomen II. Even though times are strange, I want to announce a new album I’ve worked on for our label World Of Paint; Cindy – ‘I’m Cindy’.
Cindy Savalas is one of the songs on my self titled album that was released on Beats In Space in 2015. Following it’s release, I made a music video for Cindy Savalas, where Cindy came to life through the portrayal by Blue LoLãn. I felt a connection with this character and went deeper into developing who she was and the world she lived in. The result was the creation of the album Memories Of Cindy, where my goal was to reveal more about Carmel Vista, the hometown of Cindy.
Afterwards, I imagined Cindy having her own ‘lost’ album, as if she had once released a record that was kind of forgotten... until now. I wanted Cindy to have her own shoegaze/italo disco album containing both ballads and dance songs, with Cindy being the pop singer of her own songs.
In early 2024, I recorded about thirty pieces of music in my home studio in Antwerp, Belgium, that fit into Cindy’s world. A month later in Los Angeles I recorded vocals with Blue. Together me and Blue explored more about Cindy and who she was. We ended up with a collection of songs that became Cindy’s album. Cindy sings about her mom, her boyfriend Justin, her cat and other personal sides of her life.
Then in the summer of 2024, I shot a series of music videos which go along with these themes and explore Cindy’s search for Justin and who he is. I continued my search by making a larger 3D animated world around Cindy, and I tried to see where in the realm between animated 3D and reality Cindy actually lives - what of her life is real and how does she live between these worlds?

The video’s for ‘Quiet fx’ were inspired by footage that I found on a website where you can watch security cameras from all over the world. I liked the calm, mysterious images and the feeling of suddenly being part of places and events. They felt similar to early 3D computer-game worlds, that seem to exist on their own. I also liked the stiffness and cold, alien feel of cutscenes from games like Omicron, Tomb Raider and Japanese RPGs.
Me and Kai Hugo created a series of videos featuring “myself”, that takes place in a hypothetical 3D Eastern-European country. There is no specific plot and most things happen in-between. We wanted to make computer graphics which are soft, quiet and frozen. The videos became a bit autobiographical and came to include some of the thoughts and questions I had at the time.

After watching security camera images of a random shore at night, I recorded this song. When making this video we tried to recreate the vibe of that security cam footage.
I am exploring the unknown and new territories which are exciting and interesting but also a bit scary. The quest takes place in a young East-European democratic county.
Lost tv broadcast of a television talkshow featuring two politicians discussing the turbulent situation and disappointing statistics in their country.
Footage of me doing a live performance, which turns into delirious self-absorption. Inspired by the teleportation scene from Omicron.
A place where you can feel safe.
Life is full and interesting in the forgotten industrial areas at night.
Strange, deserted and isolated; now the politician will always stay here. In a David Lynch's black lodge-like place.
Someday I will leave this room

I’m Kai. I’ve been making music as Palmbomen II for a while now and have released on labels such as Beats In Space, 1080p, Pinkman and 安卓手机怎么挂外网Building worlds and stories around my music has always felt like a very natural process. I had the idea to start a label so I can get deeper into not only my own projects, but those of my friends too.手机怎么挂梯子上外网will be my playground to explore and create art around albums.
I’ve been able to start World Of Paint with the help of my manager Kostijn Egberts. Together, we took the first steps in conceptualizing this label. I’ve worked with Kostijn for many years and he has been involved with the likes of Fatima Yamaha and De Jeugd Van Tegenwoordig. He will run one side of the label from Amsterdam, and I will run the other side of the label in Antwerp.
My idea for World Of Paint is to primarily release full-length albums. I want to release music that you can listen to at home, not just music made for clubs. Most artists on the label perform their own music live. The visual component of the albums will also be very important. For the first release, ‘Quiet fx’, by my friend Antenna, we created an Eastern European 3D adventure featuring Antenna himself.
